Ten Things You Need to Know Before Booking Your Next Holiday

The darker nights, cold and wet weather and the lifting of travel restriction to The Maldives and the Canary Islands have made this a very busy weekend for planning and booking holidays for travel in November and December.

I've had clients travelling since lockdown was lifted and without exception the feedback has been incredible. So travel is definitely possible, but there's a lot to consider so I've compiled the following to help you...

Eleven Question You Need Answers To Before Booking Your Next Holiday...

1. Is your chosen holiday destination in the ‘travel corridor’ i.e. is it exempt from our FCDO’s ‘all but essential travel’ guidance, and will you need to quarantine on your return?

2. Are there restrictions in place where you live? For example, are you in local lockdown?

3. What are the entry requirements for your holiday destination? Do you need to pre-register your arrival, complete entry forms etc, and if so by when? Do you need to present evidence of a negative Covid test? Can you get this taken in time, and what is the cost?

4. What are the restrictions at your holiday destination? For example, will you have to quarantine on arrival? What are the policies around social distancing and the wearing of masks?

5. What is the ‘best’ travel insurance (based on your requirements) and what is the cost?

6. What are your rights (to cancel/amend or get a refund for your holiday) if something changes and you can no longer travel, for example where you live goes in to a ‘local lockdown’ or Tier 3, or you contract Covid before you travel, or are required to self-isolate?

7. What are your rights (to cancel/amend or get a refund for your holiday) if you book your holiday and the FCDO advice changes, i.e. your holiday destination is on longer in the ‘travel corridor’ and you are required to quarantine on your return

8. What is the airport and flying experience like with your chosen airline?

9. How is the resort/hotel you’ve chosen managing Covid in terms of enhanced hygiene protocols and social distancing, i.e. will you be safe?

10. What will the experience at your hotel/resort be like and are these changes acceptable, or detrimental to your enjoyment of your holiday?
